8 Ups & 4 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Nov 10)

2. XXXL Fall Short, Again

XXXL are an odd one in Impact Wrestling. The booking for them appears quite simple - destroy everyone in their path. While this is often their go-to method in matches, it rarely translates into positive results.

That was precisely the case this week as Acey Romero battled Chris Sabin, which stems from Romero and Larry D ambushing Alex Shelley just days after he was injured at Bound For Glory. For the most part, it was a standard Acey Romero contest. He ran through Motor City Machine Guns member with the aid of his partner at ringside, until Sabin mounted a comeback, took care of Larry, and utilised a trio of flying roundhouse kicks to pin the superheavyweight.

It was the wrong result, to say the least. With Shelley currently sitting on the shelf, this easily could have been used as an opportunity to grow XXXL into a formidable tandem in the doubles division. Even though they're physically the biggest pairing on offer, they struggle to get the job in the ring. Needless to say, this shouldn't be the case for a team of this size.

A post-match assault on Sabin wasn't nearly enough to salvage any rub XXXL could have taken from this. Romero had to win. Where the duo go from here remains to be seen, but if this continues, it'll never be in the direction of the World Tag Team Championships sadly.
