3. Punk Glosses Over History

Leave it to CM Punk to simultaneously acknowledge ancient history and then gloss right over it.

Punk came out Monday night to make his decision about which brand he would join and immediately noted that being in Cleveland brought back a lot of memories, from his debut, to being stripped of the World Heavyweight Championship after Randy Orton punted him, to walking out of WWE in January 2014.

That walkout was obviously a seminal moment in wrestling history, but Punk made it seem like it was just him taking a mental health break. From there, he apologized to the fans who were upset he left WWE – another astounding line no one could have imagined him saying a year ago.

Punk once again called WWE home as he signed his Raw contract, further giving the impression that this is all a big act – and very in character. The man who has based his entire persona on telling fans the way it is and spreading uncomfortable truths is suddenly all smiles, apologizing to fans and sidestepping some of the biggest moments of his professional and personal life.

If anyone is buying this as a 100% genuine apology/gratitude tour, they might also be interested in buying a bridge. The rest of the fans? This is going to be a fun ride.
