2. Becky Seeks Revenge

Normally, a five-year delay in picking up a rivalry would be an automatic “down” for trying to connect dots long past the sell-by date (see Seth Rollins and Finn Balor). But Becky Lynch and Nia Jax managed to pull it off Monday night.

While not a great bit of business, Lynch set the scene for this feud by showing the infamous video of Jax breaking her face in late 2018, then added that it might seem petty to seek revenge after five years, but she was going to be petty. Becky further noted that they never intersected, with Lynch main-evening WrestleMania 35, Nia getting double ACL surgery, then Becky becoming pregnant and Jax getting fired.

Basically, they never had a real chance to have a one-on-one match to settle the score. The women played with that Monday night, with Jax noting that her punch was a lucky one and that she could do more damage if she aimed and used her full force. Nia took credit for making Becky’s career with the iconic image of a bloodied Lynch, which set The Man off about ending that lie, or ending Nia.

Jax would draw blood first though by noting that Becky needs this feud and win more than she does because Lynch has to prove her entire image isn’t solely tied to that one moment. It’s a bit of a stretch, but this is wrestling, where feuds have been started over spilled coffee and shampoo commercials.
