8 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE Raw (19 June - Review)

7. Trish Squeaks Into MITB

Let’s give some credit to Trish Stratus for her first Raw singles match in 12 years, earning a spot in the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match by defeating Raquel Rodriguez – albeit by DQ.

Trish actually hung with the younger, stronger and overall dominant Rodriguez in a more competitive match than you’d have expected. Zoey Stark didn’t interfere until the waning moments, but it was Becky Lynch who cost Raquel the match, attacking Stratus on the outside to trigger the disqualification and giving her rival the final slot in MITB.

This was yet another example of WWE trying to book Rodriguez to lose without damaging her aura, but honestly, they’re running out of ways to do this. At some point, you have to just stop booking Raquel to lose rather than twisting yourself into a pretzel to protect her.

Still, this match was more entertaining than it looked on paper, so with that low bar cleared, we’ll give this positive marks.
