5. The Debut That Should Have Happened Last Week

There’s a theory that a good showing against a champion – even in a losing effort – can put a superstar on the map.

But Kayden Carter & Katana Chance’s debut two weeks ago against the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler wasn’t the smartest move, having the former NXT tag champs call their shot and then get stuffed.

Monday, they picked up their first win with a relative squash of Sonya Deville & Chelsea Green, absorbing some offense from the heels before Carter ran wild and the duo hit the Afterparty for the impressive finish. Really, KC-squared should have gotten a bit more shine here to showcase their tandem offense, but this still was a good move.

If they’re going to start building the KCs back up to challenge Baszler & Rousey down the line, that’s fine, but it’s just an odd move to acknowledge they’re long-reigning former NXT tag champs and immediately knock them down a couple of pegs before getting them on track.

It’s a shame Monday’s win wasn’t their first match to establish them rather than shaking off the loss to the WWE tag champs.
