8 Ups & 5 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling Hardcore Justice 2021

7. Oh Canada

We’ll talk more about the match itself a bit later on, but the return of IMPACT legend Petey Williams as Josh Alexander’s mystery partner was a welcome surprise.

The former X Division Champion hadn’t wrestled for the company – or at all, for that matter – since the 3 March 2020 edition of IMPACT Wrestling, losing to Moose in a solid encounter. Despite that gap period, ‘The Canadian Destroyer’ hasn’t missed a step. He worked perfectly alongside Alexander, making use of all of his signature offence; the tilt-a-whirl Russian leg sweep and slingshot Codebreaker never get old.

What’s strange is that the guy is only 39-years-old. He feels much older because, well, he should be. He helped pioneer a division as one of the most iconic X Division Champion in history, as well as giving an entire era of professional wrestling a new move to waste during the first minute of literally any indie show you attend. The Canadian Destroyer he executed on TJP was gorgeous. Let’s hope this isn’t the last we see of Petey in IMPACT going forward.
