8 Ups & 5 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Jan 7)

1. History Made Again

Sami Callihan vs. Tessa Blanchard at Hard to Kill was already a huge match. It'll mark the first time in history a woman has challenged for the World Championship of a major company in the main event of a pay-per-view. The video package that aired for the match made it that extra bit special though - it was ten uninterrupted minutes of pure bliss.

We were sent on a journey that showed us just how Sami and Tessa got to where they are today. While Tessa had grown up in the business as the daughter of Tully Blanchard while also being related to Magnum TA, Sami had a fairly rough time that saw both of his parents die when he was only in his 20s. However, that's something that 'The Draw' firmly believes turned him into the wrestler he is now. When his mother died, Callihan was on a tour of Germany, with his father telling him to continue doing his job instead of going home. His father died when Sami was in NXT developmental, something he was told to continue with instead of heading home. Both of Sami's parents wanted nothing more from him than for him to follow his dreams.

Everything said in the video added even more to the already personal rivalry. You can tell just how much the match and the impact it will leave on the wrestling industry as a whole means to both champion and challenger. We can only hope the rest of oVe stay out of this one so we can have a clean singles match between Impact's two biggest names today.

No matter what happens at the pay-per-view, history is going to be made once again.
