8 Ups & 5 Downs From Impact Wrestling Slammiversary 2020
1. III
Ladies and gentlemen, EC3.
The final surprise of the evening, and boy, was it produced incredibly. Just as it looked like the show was going off-air with The Good Brothers and new World Champion Eddie Edwards standing tall, a hooded figure appeared onscreen standing in front of a brick wall featuring a 'III' symbol chalked on to it. Smashing a glass of whiskey against the wall, a far more serious EC3 has arrived back in the company that made him what he is today, and is possibly heading straight into a World Championship programme with Eddie.
It was a real NXT TakeOver move to have the EC3 vignette crop up right at the end of the pay-per-view when it seemed like the final thing onscreen was Edwards' championship celebration. Needless to say, 'The One Percenter' belongs in Impact. EC3's treatment on WWE's main roster, including his NXT run at a push if you take away the Ladder Match at TakeOver: New Orleans, remains one of the biggest crimes in recent wrestling history. That the biggest wrestling promotion in the world didn't have a clue what to do with one of the most naturally gifted talents in the world today is infuriating.
We won't even have to wait long to see what EC3 has to say, as he's been confirmed for the next Impact episode. Trouble is finally coming.
