8 Ups & 5 Downs From Impact Wrestling Slammiversary 2020

7. Change Of Pace

The Gauntlet Battle Royal to determine the next challenger for the Knockouts Championship was, for the most part, all over the place. The rules stated that the first two entrants would fight for two minutes with new entrants then coming out at one minute intervals, something that was quickly thrown out the window as the additional names in the bout just came out whenever they felt like it.

Even with that in mind though, the match was fun, and it got more knockouts on the card instead of just featuring the championship match.

Kicking off with Kylie Rae and Tasha Steelz, the ring filled up in no time with very few eliminations throughout the entrants portion of the match, aside from both of John E. Bravo's forrays into the match. Perhaps the biggest surprise was that when Havok came into the fray, and didn't clean house, instead just fading into the background with everyone else in the bout.

It wasn't until the end of the match when the eliminations properly began to pick up, coming down to Kylie Rae (who picked up the majority of the eliminations here) and Taya Valkyrie, who 'accidentally' dumped newfound partner Rosemary out of the ring.

A version of the Code Red meant 'Smiley Kylie' took her place as the next in line to challenge for Deonna Purrazzo's Knockouts Championship at a date to be confirmed. Undoubtedly the right choice.

It simply couldn't be Taya, Rosemary, Havok, nor Madison Rayne who won this bout as they're all former champions in their own right, with 'Wera Loca's' record-breaking reign only recently coming to an end earlier this year. With a new challenger coming for the title, however, it's time for a change of scenery at the top of the best women's division in the world.
