8 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE Raw (4 Mar - Results & Review)

4. Gable Fires Up To Gunther

Gunther’s smug attitude has become one of his best traits. The longer his Intercontinental Championship reign goes, the more confident and smug he becomes, making him more insufferable to other wrestlers and fans alike.

After one of his typical cocky promos Monday night, Chad Gable approached and made his case simple: He’s not fighting for a path to WrestleMania (a subtle dig at Sami Zayn), he’s fighting for his daughter, who Gunther mocked after she cried at Gable losing his IC title match last fall. That embarrassment has been sitting with Chad for months, and as he put it, facing Gunther for the title “just means more” to him.

Gable added he’d like nothing more than to take that title off Gunther’s waist and put it around his, and take that smug smile off the Ring General’s face and put it on his daughter’s visage. Naturally, Gunther simply chuckled at him and walked away.

If Gable emerges victorious next week, you’ve got a built-in hype video with his daughter sobbing on camera and the former Olympian swearing to avenge her. That’s a hell of an emotional connection.
