8 Ups & 7 Downs From WWE Raw (Nov 1)

4. Priest Goes To Dark Place

Sometimes when WWE tweaks a character, it becomes widely scorned. Witness Keith “Bearcat” Lee, who wasn’t even on Raw after a lacklustre re-debut last week.

No, we’re talking about Damian Priest, who rolled out a new theme and Titantron display, as the Archer of Infamy stuff is gone, and he’s now talking about a balance of the good and the devil in him. Priest talked about how he snapped last week and was going to drag T-Bar down to a dark place with him.

Their no-DQ match was actually pretty nicely done, as both men used their size and agility to their advantage, hitting each other with some stiff-looking moves, displayed some athletic prowess, and then brought some plunder into the fold. T-Bar trapped Priest’s arms and broke a kendo stick across his chest, only for Damian to escape, wear out a chair on him, and chokeslam T-Bar through a table on the floor. After that, it was academic.

The downside to all of this was the realization that had WWE not been booking T-Bar like a glorified jobber these past several months, this match could have meant something. But it was a good showing for both men, and it provided Priest a nice boost.
