8 Ups & 7 Downs From WWE Raw (Nov 1)
3. Theory Continues To Hang
Somehow, Austin Theory has continued to pick up steam and not get derailed by WWE’s propensity to 50/50 or de-push wrestlers for no good reason.
Theory defeated Dominik Mysterio last week, so he naturally tangled with Rey Mysterio this week. And while the match ended in a DQ when Dominik interfered multiple times, the story of the match was that Austin hung with Rey move for move. He showed off his own agility and in-ring prowess – a fact that wasn’t lost on the announcers.
One thing that bears mentioning is that Austin has really gotten this a**hole cocky rookie persona down cold. He told Rey backstage that he regretted not getting a selfie with Mysterio last week, but he’d get it after beating him. Rey gave the old gunslinger response of how people have tried to make a name at his expense, but he’s still here battling while those names have faded.
And then they had a good match, with Theory trash-talking Dominik throughout, ultimately provoking him into attacking, which gave him a DQ win. All good things here with Theory’s development on the show.
