8 Ups And 1 Down From WWE NXT (Oct 7)

8. Lights At The End Of The Tunnel

I was dead against the CWC move for NXT being a permanent thing. Yes, it looked astounding for TakeOver but Full Sail has, and always will be, the beating heart of this brand. Even now when it's not at full capacity it still feels like one of the few slices of normality we have in professional wrestling at present, and I didn't want it discarded for a few flashy lights.

But, to borrow a phrase from Literally Odin, Full Sail isn't a place, it's a people.

The regular crowd that NXT gets there is what makes the show feel so special, and if they're off the table then the empty shell of its setting could pretty much just be anywhere on Earth. We'll get back to them - and hopefully to there - eventually, but right now a change feels as good as a rest.

Plus, for all CWC is just a bunch of flashy lights, they are very flashy lights. The whole setting is a resplendent wonder of modern set-design and live production, with NXT's sub-2 hour runtime just about short enough to prevent you from getting a headache watching it. A change, it seems, is as good as a rest.
