8 Ups And 1 Down From WWE NXT (Oct 7)
6. Looney Moons
Boy, I'd sure hate to be the above-averagely handsome wrestling columnist who's previously said that NXT almost comically overuses Mass Brawls as a way to initiate and advance its storylines. He'd be in a really tough situation with this segment given that it was the promo element that underwhelmed and a dust-up that managed to save it.
Bottom-line here, I am delighted that Ember Moon is back. She has to go down as one of the top 5 most wasted talents on the main roster, and airdropping her back into the top of an already thriving division is one of the most exciting things the brand could have done. But, in just a little glimpse here, we did see why it went wrong for her.
It was a promo that was tonally all over the place. Jumping between being deadly serious and then awkwardly laughing in the middle of lines. She even missed her queue for the interruption, which is amazing really as you don't even have to do anything... you just get interrupted.
Still though, Ripley, Gonzales, Kai, big scrap, Regal, tag match, main event, yeah, it gets a pass this week. Just.
