6. An Origin Story

Though we have finally witnessed what all the underground training/torturing of Xia Li and Boa was for, with the former absolutely pulverising a number of poor souls over the last couple of weeks, one question has still remained when it comes to this entire atmospheric situation.

Who the hell is the creepy, mysterious figure calling all the shots?

Well, this week NXT chose to finally reveal exactly who this ominous presence was, and did this via an intriguing animation. During the short film, we were told of a son and daughter of a king. The son would ultimately kill off his daddy in order to steal the throne for himself. This then forced the daughter to flee the kingdom, where she finally met a dragon and asked it to give her the strength to win back the throne and restore honour to her family name.

The beast agreed, but it would cost her soul if they were to proceed. They did, and the daughter would finally destroy her brother, assuming the throne, but now finding herself faced with the uncomfortable truth of having to instil fear in others if she wanted to hold onto the crown.

Most importantly, in the closing stages of the clip, we find out that Tian Sha, the aforementioned daughter, is none other than the chilling face we've seen perched on a throne for weeks...

Damn.
