8 Ups And 2 Downs For WWE NXT (Apr 13)
3. The Gonzalez Era Begins
Dethroning the seemingly unconquerable Io Shirai at Stand and Deliver, new NXT Women's Champion Raquel Gonzalez was welcomed back to the black and gold show with a wave of appreciation from the CWC faithful. Chants of 'You deserve it!' were heard throughout the champ's promo as she put over Dakota Kai for being the reason she's in this position and Shirai for being a dominant former Champion.
This all set the stage for Franky Monet's anticipated debut. With her pooch in arm, the former Taya Valkyrie introduced herself to Big Mami Cool, claiming she would be seeing a lot more of her in the coming weeks. However, if Gonzalez' threat of shoving her pup up her culo was anything to go by, Monet may want to work her way up to the top dog in the division.
Then in a shocking twist, Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair, the now-current Raw and SmackDown Women's Champions, made their presence known. Far from stealing the spotlight away from the brand's new top woman, all three shared a moment of reflection as they smiled, holding all of WWE's Women's singles gold, stood in front of a photo of the three in their formative NXT years.
It doesn't need to make sense in kayfabe, it was just a lovely moment of recognition of exactly how far all three have come in such a short space of time. And so, a new era begins...
