8 Ups And 3 Downs From NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn II

3. A Fitting Farewell(?)

If that was her last match in NXT, Bayley versus Asuka certainly was a fitting send-off for the former women’s champ.

Bayley has become an incredible performer in just about every way in the ring. You can feel what she’s feeling just by watching her. You could see at TakeOver: Brooklyn that she kept digging deep to shrug off Asuka’s kicks and strikes, but just didn’t have enough in her reserves to overcome the Empress of Tomorrow.

Bayley managed to escape the Asuka Lock a couple times, but she just couldn’t counter the rapid kicks that ended the match. Before that though, the two women alternated attacks, with Bayley at one point firing up and daring Asuka to hit her in the face – which she obliged.

Afterward, the Brooklyn faithful gave a hearty, “Thank you Bayley!” chant, widely assuming that this was her swansong. And with the Huggable One losing her NXT Women’s Championship rematch, you’ve got to imagine there isn’t much left for her to accomplish in NXT.
