8 Ups And 5 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (April 30)

Downs...

It’s a common fallback for WWE whenever they’re in a location where there are a ton of passionate fans to downplay their vocal outbursts. This has now become gospel on the Raw after WrestleMania.

That’s especially true in Canada, where WWE loves to tell us how fans “do things differently” up north, booing people they’d normally cheer and loudly telling wrestlers what they think. The announcers wasted little time in telling us this when the Montreal crowd drowned out Roman Reigns with boos to open Raw.

And this is how WWE exhibits crowd control. Roman gets booed to high hell abroad and in Canada and other wrestling cities like Philadelphia or Chicago, and it’s the fans’ fault. “They’re unique and expressing themselves!” is the battle cry.

Memo to WWE: If you have to make excuses for fan reaction in a half-dozen locales, it’s the superstar, not the crowd. This time, don’t blame Canada.
