8 Ups And 5 Downs From WWE Raw (Nov 25)
3. Rey’s Redemption
After losing his WWE Universal Championship match to Brock Lesnar in humiliating fashion at Survivor Series, Rey Mysterio needed to right the ship immediately.
He did just that Monday night, winning a fatal four-way match and then defeating AJ Styles for the WWE United States Championship. The victory came after a spirited contest that saw Randy Orton – in his role as a tweener doing what he wants, when he wants – evening the odds by taking out The OC and hitting Styles with a RKO while the ref was down.
Rey looked sharp, and he and AJ strung together a solid TV match, with the two wrestlers firing on all cylinders.
Had Rey lost, we’d have to start talking about whether WWE was just going for diminishing returns with the legendary luchador.
