8 Ups And 6 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (August 1)

7. This Is Going Somewhere, Right?

Poor Heath Slater. The man goes undrafted and now has to watch other wrestlers get signed to both brands as free agents over top of him – and in Jinder Mahal’s case, over his prone body.

Mahal showed up on Raw alongside his former 3MB teammate, only for Mick Foley to announce a match between the two for a lone roster spot. While Slater argued that the two brothers wouldn’t fight, Mahal jumped him and grabbed the pin – and the spot. This comes after Rhyno Gored Heath en route to joining SmackDown last week.

Heath Slater is pretty effective as comic relief, but you’ve got to believe that this is going somewhere. Eventually, he’ll have to land somewhere, and possibly start up another jobber stable. Or hey, maybe he’ll be rewarded by actually winning a few matches rather than being a perpetual punching bag.

Either way, Slater’s travails are interesting enough in these short doses.
