8 Ups And 6 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Aug 8)

5. An Interminable Segment

It looks like WWE’s foolproof way to get fans to cheer for Roman Reigns is to bore fans to tears with an act and then have Roman go break it up. That had to be their plan with Lana and Rusev droning on forever about how wonderful their marriage was. They were practically begging someone to shut them up.

So of course, Reigns obliged, offering to stand in as Rusev’s best man, then challenging the Bulgarian Brute to a SummerSlam United States Championship match. Fans did cheer for Reigns, though not as loudly as the Raw crowed booed him as he continued to interact with Rusev.

The segment itself was death. Fans were on the verge of revolting against the “boring” segment, and Roman did not save it. Of course, the “highlight” of the segment was a Vince McMahon favorite, someone being pushed into a cake. This time, it was Lana in her beautiful dress being knocked face-first into an iced confection. Yep, that was as exciting as it sounded.

Monday nights in the Carlson household are reserved for viewing Raw -- for better or worse.
