8 Ups And 6 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (July 15)

4. Just… No

The Miz Dolph Ziggler

On Miz TV Monday night, we saw what might be the beginning of a feud between Miz and Dolph Ziggler and…

Sorry, dozed off.

Look, if there are two wrestlers who need to take time off and reinvent themselves, it’s Miz and Ziggler. Dolph seemingly was doing that since the Royal Rumble, but then they brought him back last month to challenge Kofi Kingston at Super Showdown. He lost two PPV title matches, then lost to Kevin Owens in 20 seconds at Extreme Rules Sunday night.

Miz, meanwhile, morphed from uber-midcard heel to goofy babyface who started showing fire in his feud with Shane McMahon… until Shane beat him at every turn, making Miz look like a complete goof. And Dolph’s criticisms were a little close to the mark, frankly.

These two faced each other in one-on-one action 16 times on Raw, SmackDown and PPV in a three-year span from 2014 through 2016, 10 of those times between October 2015 and December 2016. They didn’t set the world on fire then, and they aren’t now.

Maybe they’ll do a “loser leaves town” match that ends in a double countout, allowing both to take some time off and rework their characters.
