8 Ups And 6 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (March 13)

1. Get To The Point

It’s no secret that this column is not a fan of the never-ending authority figure battles. Even when it’s “necessary” or paid off, it still overall is a net negative.

So even though the battles between Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon were building to a head Monday night, it still didn’t work that well. Triple H came out to confront Foley, which seemed to be a good thing. And then Triple H started talking… and talking… and talking. He berated Mick, mocked him and threatened to fire his kids.

That might sound like it was dramatic, and you wouldn’t be wrong, but it just kept going, far longer than it really needed to. Why did they need to get more heat on Foley? Triple H is already a hated heel, Foley is a beloved legend and he’s not competing at WrestleMania.

Had this part of the segment been shorter, it might have been net neutral. But instead, we got the verbal battle of the authority figures. Joy.
