2. Teasing Dissension

Ever since The Shield got back together, there’s been a question of how long this supergroup will stay together. Either through the Superstar Shakeup, injury or mutual split, they can’t stay together forever.

The dominant group has a rival trio in Braun Strowman, Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre, but that’s probably not enough to swing the balance of power. Sooner or later, there will need to be a new mountain to climb. What better way than to have one of their own turn on his brothers?

The villains planted the seed last week that Dean Ambrose should leave The Shield, and they dove right into Monday, with Ambrose running down the rumors and wisely not casting any aside. He mentioned them all and let a couple linger before noting that The Shield is a brotherhood, not a business or brand.

But he also faced consequences for that loyalty, facing Braun instead of challenging one of his brothers for their singles titles. That sacrifice wasn’t lost on Dean in the trainer’s room later on.

Scott is a former journalist and longtime wrestling fan who was smart enough to abandon WCW during the Monday Night Wars the same time as the Radicalz. He fortunately became a fan in time for WrestleMania III and came back as a fan after a long high school hiatus before WM XIV. Monday nights in the Carlson household are reserved for viewing Raw -- for better or worse.
