8 Ups And 6 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Oct 2)

1. A Strong Closing Argument

WWE basically tipped its hand Monday night for a future match.

In what was billed as a final comment from Shawn Michaels on the “Last Time Ever” match between Triple H and Undertaker, things broke down in a hurry, with both participants and their seconds (HBK and Kane) battling in the ring, only for the Brothers of Destruction to topple D-Generation X.

It was a pretty exciting brawl, seeing four Attitude Era stars tangle like that. But rather than sell the singles match on Saturday, it seemingly set the stage for the strongly rumored tag match pitting DX against the Brothers of Destruction at Crown Jewel in November.

That’s not necessarily a bad thing – this writer noted a while back that HBK’s original confrontation with Taker made fans want to see that match rather than the one booked for Super Show Down. So it looks like that’s what’s happening here. The singles match is a setup to get us to the in-ring return of Michaels, albeit in a tag match.

There are plenty of arguments against a return for HBK, but you can’t deny the fan interest here, and Monday’s closing was pretty exciting, so that’s a win.
