Mixed Match Challenge is a strange series. It exists in an alternate universe where comedy is valued above workrate, and it has its own storylines.

Still, it’s an interesting concept that gives wrestlers who aren’t otherwise occupied something to do. Take Finn Balor, Bayley, Jinder Mahal and Alicia Fox, for example. True, Balor should be involved in some high-profile feud rather than simply seconding Bayley to the ring, but the alternative would be for him to not even appear on Raw, or worse, lose a match as part of some angle advancement for another wrestler.

We’d obviously rather see Finn in action competing for a singles title or even forming a tag team to challenge Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler. But we’ll take this in the short-term for now.
