8 Ups And 6 Downs From WWE Evolution
6. Six Woman Tag Match Dials It Up
Give the Riott Squad, Sasha Banks, Bayley and Natalya credit: They all came out firing on all cylinders Sunday night. Their six-woman tag match could have been a paint-by-numbers bout ripped out of Raw.
But they delivered a tag match that served its purpose really well, with Bayley and Sasha taking turns as face-in-peril, getting fans fired up as the Riott Squad beat each of them up. The finish, a powerbomb, elbow drop, frogsplash combo from the faces to Liv Morgan, was a great way to end the match and really get the fans into it.
The negative component, which won’t get its own item here, would have to be the Riott Squad itself. At some point, all the talk about them being a cohesive unit has to pay off in a blowoff match. They need to win something other than an occasional Raw match.
And Sasha and Bayley need to do something of consequence soon. This was perfectly fine, but considering their contributions to women’s wrestling the last few years, you’d think they’d be in a bigger position for the first WWE all-female PPV.
