During the past few years, WWE has made sure to check off all the women’s firsts they can: first Money in the Bank ladder match, first Hell in a Cell match, first PPV main event, etc.

Sunday, we got the company’s first Last Woman Standing match, with Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair doing the honors. The two women tore into each other, abandoning a straight up wrestling match after a few minutes and switching to a hardcore match with chairs, ladders, tables and kendo sticks. Flair nailed a senton through a table, while Lynch hit a legdrop off a ladder through a table.

In the end, it was a Lynch powerbomb off the top rope through a table on the floor that secured a strong win for the SmackDown Women’s Champion. That was also the right call, having Becky retain without resorting to shenanigans.

Hopefully, this marks the end of the feud and allows Becky – who was wildly cheered throughout – to continue a successful reign that doesn’t just try to shoehorn her as a heel.
