When you put five top wrestlers into a match, you would hope you get something like what we got in the Extreme Rules main event: a solid bout that barely took a breath during the closing moments.

Fans can break down and criticize various aspects of the match (and sometimes, this column would do the same), but overall, this was a pretty good match, with everyone getting time and opportunities to shine. The crescendo toward the end, with Roman Reigns spearing Finn Balor and Samoa Joe through the timekeeper’s area and Seth Rollins frogsplashing Bray Wyatt through the announce table, was a definite high point, along with the rapid exchanges leading to Joe getting the submission win.

Joe versus Brock Lesnar is a different match, which is certainly a good thing. It’ll be interesting to see how that bout shakes out.
