It’s the one night of the year when WWE gets extreme… except Money in the Bank, Hell in a Cell and Tables, Ladders & Chairs.

Seriously, these themed PPVs are misleading as hell at times and do themselves a disservice. Case in point, Sunday’s event that featured six matches, with only three carrying an “extreme” stipulation: women’s kendo stick match, tag team cage match, and a fatal five-way match (no DQ or countouts). Compare that to 2011’s Extreme Rules PPV, which had a last man standing match, tag team strap match, falls count anywhere match, loser leaves WWE match, ladder match, lumberjack match and triple threat steel cage match.

The TLC PPV each year features more “extreme rules” matches. Hell, one of this year’s bout was an Intercontinental Championship contest where the champ would lose his title if he was disqualified. The champ had to extremely obey the rules!

It’s as if WWE realized the title of the PPV a couple weeks ago and half-heartedly tossed stipulations onto a few matches and called it a day.
