In recent years, the Money in the Bank briefcase has been a wonderful plot device that when put in the right persons hands has been magic in helping to elevate a superstar as he threatens to cash in the world title contract. It instantly elevates a man to top-tier status simply because he has to be in the conversation for champ.

Case(s) in point: Edge used the very first briefcase to its full potential. Miz, Dolph Ziggler and Alberto Del Rio also got some mileage out of carrying the MITB briefcase around and threatening to cash it in. And of course, Seth Rollins used the briefcase to anoint himself as the future of the WWE.

But with Dean Ambrose cashing in his title shot just minutes after winning it, the briefcase (and its potential intrigue) is gone. There will be no one walking around WWE threatening to call for an immediate world title match for the next year.

Maybe thats a good thing, but for now, lets call that a negative, especially considering that someone like Kevin Owens would have almost certainly been gold in that role.
