8 Ups And 7 Downs From WWE Money In The Bank 2016
3. A Disjointed, Disappointing Match
Lets be fair right off the bat: Pitting Apollo Crews against Sheamus the bully is a smart way to get fans to rally to the newcomers side after he seemingly had stalled.
But Sundays match between the two lacked the kind of fire you would expect after the Celtic Warrior picked on Crews and Apollo fired back with some shots of his own. The bout opened with Sheamus pummeling him and Crews fighting back, but then settled in with Sheamus controlling with headlocks and restholds.
Crews thankfully quickened the pace a bit with a belly-to-belly suplex over the top rope and a moonsault off the apron, but the match ended out of nowhere with a Crews rollup after an impressive White Noise off the middle turnbuckle.
If the match largely consisted of Sheamus pummeling and Crews fighting back, it would have made for a more intense, personal feud. Instead, this mostly looked like any other competitive match weve seen on Raw not bad or offensive, but not a star-making bout either.
