3. The Difference In Women's Wrestling Between The Two Brands Is Downright Embarrassing
How was Emma supposed to get over when the audience barely saw her wrestle? Instead she was sidelined to dancing competitions (for the love of God), reduced showings in mixed gender tag matches, or in woefully short singles matches. They just never gave her the time to show herself off to the fans. Fun fact: Emma was a part of the 31- second Divas match that started the #GiveDivasAChance trend. She took the pin after getting in no offence. On NXT, Women's Championship matches can last up to 15/20 minutes and close the show. The gulf of difference between how NXT uses its female wrestlers and how they're utilised under the watch of Vince McMahon and Kevin Dunn, is staggering. Watching the fatal fourway women's title match on NXT: Rival makes watching the tag non-title match the Divas put on at Wrestlemania feel embarrassing. On the main roster, women are either forced through the Total Divas machine, made too sexual or crazy, and showcased in fleeting matches. The casual viewer has been conditioned by this to care less about female wrestling, and the less that they care, the worse the Diva matches become. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy. Vince claims to have "heard" the fans re. #GiveDivasAChance, but until tangible progress is made, the absolute last thing a NXT woman should want is to be called up to big leagues. It's tantamount to a death sentence.
