WWE made a savvy political move by allowing Brock Lesnar to compete at UFC 200. Yes, it was also hazardous move, one with potentially drastic consequences had he lost. But it was worth it if the gamble paid off. And pay off it did.

Obviously, Brock's victory boosted his own profile, and the company's, considerably. But his appearance on the show was also greatly beneficial to Dana White's promotion, and the favour isn't something he will forget in a hurry.

It's well-known that WWE have been desperate for Ronda Rousey to complete in the squared-circle in some capacity for some time; her defeat to Holly Holm has done little to diminish the fervent demand for such a cross-over. By entering productive relationships with UFC, the possibility seems more likely than ever.

In what capacity, it remains to be seen. Could Rousey make the transition to full-time grappler, in an attempt to legitimise the rebranded women's division for good? It has to be on WWE's minds. After all, UFC 200 - the biggest show in MMA history - was headlined by female competitors; Rousey played an instrumental role in allowing that to happen.

Of course, it doesn't just stop at Rousey, and there's no doubt a number of names both promotions have their eyes on for future cross-over contests.

So long as the liaison between the two parties remains cordial, it will be mutually beneficial for both.

He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
