As evidenced by the reaction to Ambrose and Rollins forgiving each other, fans are salivating over the return of The Shield. Three years may be too soon for a reunion, but WWE officials aren’t left with (or haven't left themselves with) many other options. The Shield is one of the last acts still available to draw interest, and the final solution to getting fans back on Reigns’ side. His war of words with Cena has done more harm than good, seemingly exposing management’s internal criticism of the chosen one.

If Reigns beats Cena at No Mercy, it’s just another win for the Big Dog. But if Ambrose and Rollins help him defeat Cena, then it’s a whole new chapter for Raw.
