8 Wrestlers AEW Just Can't Get Over

1. Scorpio Sky

Scorpio Sky is a talent that AEW have always seemed high on since its inaugural pay-per-view, Double or Nothing 2019. As a member of SoCal Uncensored, he picked up the win on the first match of the show's main card. Sky and Frankie Kazarian soon became the promotion's first ever Tag Team Champions.

AEW bookers made it clear that they saw Sky as one of their premier solo stars of the upstart promotion. Away from the tag team scene, Sky made a credible threat to Chris Jericho's World Championship (Dynamite, 27th November 2019) and Cody's TNT Championship (Dynamite, 12th August 2020), looking strong in defeat.

Sky began to pile up victims on Dark as AEW invested more interest in him, leading up to him winning the Face Of The Revolution Ladder Match, seizing the big gold ring above the squared circle, which proved an anticlimax. He used his number one contendership contract three days later (Dynamite, 10th March 2021) to unsuccessfully challenge for Darby Allin's TNT title. Sky was a safe pair of hands rather than a solo star.

AEW have changed direction for Sky again, keeping him away from his SoCal Uncensored teammates, and pairing him ups with skilled heel Ethan Page and the woeful Dan Lambert. Fan interest isn't exactly piqued...
