8 Wrestlers Cody Helped To Get Over In AEW

The older Rhodes brother was a guy WWE was happy to release even when they were busy stockpiling every free agent in North America and holding the likes of The Revival against their will. That said, “The Natural” Dustin Rhodes had been buried under black and gold paint (and indifferent booking) for so long, it’s no surprise people had forgotten just how good he could be.

Someone who had never forgotten was his little brother. Having campaigned for a brotherly grudge match to feature on a WrestleMania card, finally, Dustin and Cody got the chance to deliver on a major PPV. It might not be “The Showcase of The Immortals” but at Double Or Nothing, their fight arguably meant more than it ever could have under WWE’s umbrella.

It didn’t hurt that the match was a five-star classic. Cody played heel in the guts of the match, refusing to go easy on his older sibling, which only provided the perfect backdrop for Dustin to prove he could level up to a younger generation’s crowd popping athleticism.

Then, after scoring the pin and securing victory, Cody immediately built his opponent back up. He could have picked anyone to partner him in a forthcoming match against the world-class Young Bucks. In what was not just a sentimental moment but a show of respect, he wanted no one but his big brother.
