8 Wrestlers Steve Austin Refused To Lose Against

8. Jeff Jarrett

J-E-Double-F J-A-Double-R E-Double T. That may be the schtick of Jeff Jarrett, but there was no way that Steve Austin was going to do the J-O-B for Double J. When Jarrett returned to the then-WWF in 1998, there was an initial plan in place for him to feud with Austin down the line. In fact, some reports claim that a deal-breaker for Jeff re-signing with the company was that he was flat-out promised an Austin feud. Unfortunately for Jarrett, the Texas Rattlesnake completely shot down any notion of him doing anything of note with Double J, and the reasons are multiple. Stone Cold€™s main beef stemmed from his time working in Memphis years prior, where Jeff's father Jerry reportedly low-balled him on some paydays (to put it kindly). As such, Austin had a long-standing grudge against Jerry, something he took out on his son. Additionally, Jeff supposedly got the ire of Austin even more when he labelled the famous €œAustin 3:16€ line as blasphemous during one of his WWF promos. Regardless of the reason, Austin totally refused to work with Jeff Jarrett and would go out of his way to take shots at him at any opportunity. Now despite splitting fan opinion, Jeff Jarrett is undoubtedly a talented in-ring performer, but with Austin at the top of the card and refusing to work with him, Double J knew that his WWF days were numbered and this is reportedly part of the reason why he was so keen to go to WCW.
