8 Wrestlers Who DESTROYED Their Own Aura

2. Jon Moxley

Jonathan Good was downcast by portraying the Dean Ambrose character.

Booked in skits that only a prepubescent child would envision - he wore a gas mask to the ring because, shock, wrestling fans are immune to antiperspirent - Dean Ambrose died a slow, miserable death in 2018 that resulted in him allowing his contract to expire, jump to the newfound All Elite Wrestling, and remind the wrestling world who Jon Moxley was. He was a top-three best wrestler in the world at his peak, entrusted by Tony Khan to carry AEW as its Ace and to have the best match on any night of the week.

Then, unexpectedly, almost as if Tony hit randomise during a particularly strenuous Extreme Warfare Revenge session, Jon Moxley decided to rid AEW of what he perceived as the weak.

The issues appeared instantly: Moxley voiced the same frustrations as AEW's core audience. Rather than act upon the criticisms, though, Tony Khan turned them into a storyline that included Mox cartoonishly targeting his victims. He bashed Isiah Kassidy's hand with a hammer in a segment done one week and forgotten the next. He kidnapped The Rock'n'Roll Express and sort of half-stripped Ricky Morton. He chastised Cope solely because Edge happened to have been born earlier than Mox was.

Christ.

Jon Moxley's aura currently lies in the same pit of ash as Dean Ambrose's burned Shield vest.
