8 Wrestlers Who Faked Their Retirement
5. Triple H
Poor Triple H was gorilla pressed so hard by The Ultimate Warrior at WrestleMania XII that their fates apparently entwined, as just three years later The Game suffered the exact same tragedy as his forebear, trapped in a room with an evil snake.
This was all thanks to the nefarious Steve Austin, who WWE had suddenly deemed an actual python-wrangler as per his metaphorical nickname. Unfortunately for Trips, Stone Cold's slithery assassin could slip its fangs through the inch-thick glass literally glaring on-screen, and seemingly took a chunk out of the then-champ.
He didn't like the apple the adder was offering, and turned up on SmackDown the next week, face dramatically scarred and swollen, to announce his enforced retirement from the ring.
Just kidding! The hunted became the, well, Hunter, later in the night, as he peeled off his wound and sought sweet revenge on the sympathetic Stone Cold.
