6. Kane (Isaac Yankem)
It's well known that WWE found itself in a rough spot in the mid-90's. Trying to set up a family-friendly product in the wake of the steroid scandal of the era and no longer having Hulkamania to fall back on, Vince McMahon fell into a terrible habit of creating gimmicks that were better suited for Saturday morning cartoons than the squared circle.
Understandably, audiences began to dwindle.
One such character was Isaac Yankem, played by Glenn Jacobs. The future Kane would appear as an evil dentist with bad teeth, who was introduced to fans as Jerry Lawler's DDS and thrown into the failing feud between 'The King' and Bret Hart. Vince famously thought the pun "I. Yankem" was comedic genius, just in case you wanted a closer look at why WWE was dying on its ass.
Jacobs' main gripe with the character was that he found the maniacal tooth puller "too cartoonish". He then followed this up by playing the 'Fake Diesel' replacement when Kevin Nash departed for WCW, before finally finding the gimmick that defined him when he debuted as Kane.
