On 4 February 1986 the body of ‘Gorgeous’ Gino Hernandez was found in his apartment. He was only 29 years old.

Gino was known for his incredible mic skills, with his work often being compared to Ric Flair. Shocked family members scrambled for answers, and fans mourned the loss of a wrestler they loved to hate. More than 30 years later, questions and theories still run rampant over what happened to Gino Hernandez on his final fateful night. Autopsy reports indicate Gino died from a cocaine overdose, though some dispute this strongly and believe he was murdered.

Michael P.S. Hayes, Jake Roberts and Tully Blanchard have spoken how Gino ran with the wrong crowd (his heavy cocaine use was not a secret) and had a lot of enemies.

Gino’s mother claims to have seen her son a few days prior to his death, remembering him acting fidgety and nervous as if he was worried something might happen to him. According to WCCW referee/booker David Manning, Gino knew he was in trouble, becoming obsessed with wanting to own a gun and believing someone had been in his car and was following him, as if he foresaw someone coming to kill him.
