8 Wrestlers WWE Must Sign For The New Cruiserweight Division
6. Marty Scurll
One problem with the real sports flavour adopted in the Classic, and the wall-to-wall match quality, is that it's difficult to jeer any of the participants. WWE will likely circumvent this by positioning the RAW division purely as the workhorse hour to begin with - but long-term, the company will need to introduce a litany of truly detestable figures if it is to achieve maximum emotional resonance with crowds.
Enter Marty Scurll. The self-styled 'Villain' of the British Independent scene is such a nasty piece of work that, like Seth Rollins in 2015 before him, he has managed the tricky balancing act of employing a spectacular, crowd-popping arsenal while also generating searing heel heat. Not averse to spitting in the face of opponents, Scurll revels in his role as antagonist - which, in the era of the Cool Heel, is refreshing.
He'd have to tone down his act - there's no way WWE will allow him to scream "Motherf*cker!" in the faces of his beleaguered rivals - but he has demonstrated the willingness and ability to evolve.
Formerly the party boy of the now-white hot UK circuit, Scurll with his Clockwork Orange-inspired character shift has refused to stand still, like several stalwarts of the business before him.
He has recently signed with Ring Of Honor, but this will only serve to bolster his reputation and let American fans in on a poorly kept secret - Scurll is one of the preeminent wrestlers on the planet today.
