8 Wrestlers You Didn't Know Were World Champions

6. Jerry Lawler

Jerry Lawler Awa Most will know Jerry 'The King' Lawler as a commentator stemming from a few years after his debut, after which he decided to decide to focus on commentary over a career in the ring. Before Jerry Lawler got to the WWF, Lawler had a very successful career in the territories era before the gradual dissolution of the territories. While Lawler wouldn't hold any titles or gain any major accomplishments wrestling in the WWF, his former career saw him win the AWA World Heavyweight Championship, in addition to many other major titles. It's easy to forget Lawler is a former world champion, as he was quite old and ring worn by the time he finally joined the WWF - being the age of 42 on debut. We as fans never really saw the best of Lawler as his glory days were far past him by the time he reached a mainstream audience. Nevertheless, Lawler held one of the most respected titles in wrestling at the time, with many who saw his matches claiming that he deserves the prestigious title of world champion.
