8 Wrestling Careers Ruined By Jumping To The Other Side
5. Vader - From WCW To WWF (1996)
In 1992, former NJPW talent Leon White who most will know as Big Van Vader, or simply Vader, started working full time for WCW. Vader was booked as strong, unstoppable big-man who dominated the NWA Heavyweight Championship title picture for a number of years. In '95, Vader was booked to help Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage and Sting fight the Dungeon of Doom at WarGames, but Vader was released from the company due to a locker room brawl he was involved in with Paul Orndorff. It's also been implied this firing was due to his legitimately injuring his opponents on a frequent basis. It's no secret that Vince is a fan of big, strong talent when it comes to booking for the main event. Years prior to Vader's signing in 1996, Yokozuna was heavily pushed as a dominant force in high profile matches due to his daunting size and strength. As Yokozuna's physique got larger and his athleticism weakened, Vader was brought in. It's clear to see how the WWF would want a more athletic, stronger, faster big-man in the form of Vader to replace Yokozuna. However, while he was booked as a force, the dominant reign that the monster deserved never came to fruition. Perhaps it just wasn't the right time for Vader, but many rumour that Shawn Michaels wasn't a fan of the performer and used his ties with Vince McMahon to keep the big man down. Either way, Vader's time in the WWF was unfulfilled and short-lived.
