8 Wrestling Finishing Moves You Could Do With One Hand

6. The Big Show - WMD

So, The Great Khali’s Brain Chop, despite being rubbish, would arguably hurt simply because you are being struck by a man who is a legit giant. The same applies to The Big Show: if a 7-foot 450lb man hit you, it would really really hurt. I’m not trying to argue that Show punching me in the face wouldn’t knock me out for far longer than a three second count, but it is still a lousy finishing move.

Show’s most prevalent finisher before he started adopting the WMD punch was The Showstopper, an almighty impressive chokeslam. When Show started feuding with Floyd Mayweather in the lead up to their WrestleMania XXIV “boxing match”, he started using the WMD punch to prove that he could knock anyone out with a single wallop.

Show did not knock Mayweather at WrestleMania XXIV, obviously, but afterwards we were still left with the hangover of Show using the WMD as his new full-time finisher. And a punch is just not an exciting finisher. Every wrestler throws punches. We see numerous punches in every match. Also, why doesn’t Show just immediately throw the WMD punch when the bell rings? Does he need to “charge it up” with his taunt every time? Why bother with all his chops and headbutts when a single punch would suffice? Even Mean Mark’s Crush’s Heart Punch had more creativity than the WMD.
