8 Wrestling Finishing Moves You Could Do With One Hand

2. Santino Marella - The Cobra

Now we enter the realm of garments. And first up is former resident funny man Santino Marella.

Believe it or nor, Marella’s initial OVW gimmick was that of a legit mixed martial arts fighter adept in throws and strikes. However, he was never given such serious treatment in WWE, instead preferring to power-walk to the ring, goof about with an invisible trumpet, and wear a snake sock puppet on his hand.

The Cobra, much like The Worm, is all about the theatrics that lead up to it. Marella reveals the sock puppet from his singlet, shoves his arm through it, does the convoluted business with his hand, cries out “Cobraaa!”, then strikes his foe with a thrust (prod) to the jugular. It’s supposed to be silly move. It is a silly move. But, again, it was over with the live crowds.

Marella is one of the few genuinely funny goofball characters that WWE have had over the years so I hope the Cobra is remembered fondly by the wrestling historians. And with Marella’s mixed martial arts background, maybe it’s more deadly a move than we give it credit for.
