8 Wrestling Heel Turns That Were Immediately Reversed
3. Sting
Like Goldberg, Sting also had a brief stint as a bad guy during the dying days of WCW, switching to the dark side after a dramatic, baseball bat-aided turn at Fall Brawl in Setember 1999.
To be fair, this one definitely made a lot more sense from the perspective of story and continuity. Though he was hugely popular, Sting regularly employed tweener tactics in his ongoing fight against the New World Order.
But therein lies part of the problem. He was a force of WCW good for so long that it felt jarring to see him fight on the side of evil, especially since the baby-face against which he was then pitted was the always detestable Hulk Hogan.
In the end, they had to cave to public pressure, and The Icon was turned back into a baby-face a couple of months later, a role he has remained in (barring another short-lived heel stint in TNA) ever since - in three different promotions.
