8 WWE 2014 Storylines That Will Never Be Resolved

3. Paul Heyman Dumps Cesaro And We Awkwardly Pretend They Never Dated

Plenty of better wrestling columnists than this one have already pined for the plight of Antonio Cesaro. Hell, the biggest draw in the history of the company has pined for the plight of Antonio Cesaro directly to Vince McMahon on camera. Sadly all that did was confirm our suspicions that McMahon has completely lost the plot and can€™t understand why his audience might adore this man even though he is (and get ready for this)€Swiss! So to be honest it€™s too depressing to cover it all again. Needless to say though, there are multiple instances of Cesaro being given something to do and then having it ripped out from under him for no reason other than €˜because wrestling€™. They are all disappointing, but none have been as depressing as seeing Cesaro tied to the best speaker in the business, Paul Heyman, and then having this taken away without any justification. After winning the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal (whatever that hell is anyway) there was optimism for a new dawn for the guy who is arguably the most talented worker on the main roster. When he got paired with the advocate for Brock F€™N Lesnar, the anticipation was palpable. http://youtu.be/154psaLb800 And then€nothing happened. Having Heyman in his corner did pretty much nothing for Cesaro€™s stature at the time, but in fairness it was only early days, and sometimes these relationships and gimmicks can take time, so people held out. So we waited€and waited€and then Heyman left. And that was it. That was the end of Cesaro €˜The Paul Heyman Guy€™, and the beginning of Cesaro €˜The Jobber Guy€™. Paul Heyman said nothing about it, and Cesaro simply announced in an interview that he was no longer a Paul Heyman guy and we were expected to just accept that was that and it was time to move on. In reality we knew that Heyman had to go and be involved with Lesnar, but considering just how talented Heyman is, and considering that Lesnar averages one appearance every two months, does it seem unreasonable to assume that maybe this could have been handled a bit better? And would it have hurt to actually resolve this rather than simply feeding one of the most popular guys to the wolves because he speaks with a bit of an accent?
