8 Career-Ending WWE Disasters

3. The Shining Stars

Primo and Epico were a fairly competent tag team in an era when WWE paid almost no attention to tag team wrestling. Sound familiar? Anyway, teaming as Los Matadores with their masked mini fighting friend El Torito, the Puerto Rican pair were inoffensive but had a defined character and role that at least made sense. This dissipated in drastic fashion when the pair were repackaged as The Shining Stars.

Vignettes began to air as though the newly named tag team were on the tourist board of their home country. They beckoned WWE audiences to Puerto Rico in a move that seemed to sell them as heels, purely for eschewing the positive traits of their homeland. There was literally nothing dastardly or heelish about any of this.

The act continued, as Primo and Epico attempted to sell timeshare holiday homes to other members of the WWE roster. It is to this day one of the most confusing character changes in WWE history. The Shining Stars obviously drew no heat for this gimmick on the count of nobody being particularly mad about patriotic property salesmen, and the duo slowly faded into obscurity.
